Science Kids, a Sheridan-based nonprofit, has been awarded funding through the spring competitive grant cycle of the Sheridan-Johnson Counties Local Board of the Wyoming Community Foundation. The organization was one of 15 nonprofits selected to receive support in this round of grants.
Founded in 2009, Science Kids focuses on delivering outdoor, hands-on science education to young people. The group offers summertime classes and other programs that get children learning about nature and scientific concepts outside the traditional classroom setting. The funding will help the nonprofit continue its mission of providing these educational experiences to youth in the region.
The Wyoming Community Foundation's local board evaluates grant applications each spring, distributing funds to organizations that serve Sheridan and Johnson counties. Science Kids has been a consistent presence in the area for over a decade, working to make science accessible and engaging for local children through direct interaction with the environment.
