Pacific Power Foundation awards $343,800 in grants to 93 STEM and education nonprofits

The Pacific Power Foundation has distributed $343,800 in grants to 93 nonprofit organizations focused on science, technology, engineering, math, and general education. The funding is aimed at strengthening local communities by expanding learning opportunities for students and supporting teachers across the region.

Recipients include a wide range of groups, from small after-school programs to regional science museums. Many of the grants will go toward hands-on STEM activities, classroom supplies, and teacher training initiatives. Foundation officials said the goal is to spark curiosity and build skills that prepare young people for future careers.

One grant will help fund a mobile science lab that visits rural schools. Another will support a summer camp where students build robots and learn coding basics. Several organizations plan to use the money to buy equipment for new maker spaces or to launch environmental science projects in local parks.

The foundation noted that demand for these grants was high this year, reflecting a strong community interest in improving education access. By investing in these nonprofits, the foundation hopes to create lasting change in classrooms and communities, giving students the tools they need to succeed in a changing world.
