Jonathon Maxgay, an overdose prevention specialist with the Alliance of Coalitions for Healthy Communities in Oakland County, says the conversation has shifted significantly over the past two decades. "We are no longer just talking about the problem. We are actively distributing naloxone, training people on how to respond, and breaking down the stigma that keeps people from asking for help," he explained.

The anniversary comes at a time when overdose rates remain a serious concern, but there is also a growing sense of hope.
