Rochester Art Center wins $10,000 arts education award

The Rochester Art Center has been named a winner of a $10,000 arts education award, thanks to a partnership between Spectrum and Ovation TV. The grant is part of a broader initiative aimed at supporting local cultural organizations that prioritize creative learning opportunities for young people and the wider community.

The award will go directly toward expanding the center's educational programming, which includes hands-on workshops, school partnerships, and public art projects. According to center officials, the funding will help them reach more students in the region, especially those who might not otherwise have access to arts instruction. They also plan to use part of the money to develop new digital resources, allowing remote learners to engage with exhibitions and artist talks.

Spectrum and Ovation TV launched the grant program several years ago to recognize smaller and mid-sized arts groups that often struggle to secure major funding. A panel of judges selected the Rochester Art Center from a competitive pool of applicants, citing its strong track record of community involvement and its creative approach to blending visual art with classroom learning.

The center's executive director said the award is a meaningful vote of confidence. "It tells us that our work matters beyond our own walls," she said. "We are grateful for this support and eager to put it to use." The grant is expected to be distributed in the coming weeks, with new programs rolling out next semester.
