The committee will work with teachers and school districts to create lesson plans and activities that focus on themes like sportsmanship, perseverance, and cultural exchange. Organizers say the goal is not just to build excitement for the Games, but to leave a lasting educational impact on students long before the torch arrives.
The initiative will also offer opportunities for students to connect with athletes, learn about the history of the Olympics, and explore careers in sports and event management. Committee members include educators, community leaders, and former Olympians who will help shape the programs.
The announcement came during a meeting in Park City, where organizers outlined their vision for the next decade. They emphasized that the education effort is a core part of the Games' legacy, not an afterthought. The committee expects to roll out pilot programs in select schools within the next year, with a full statewide launch planned for 2026.
Organizers say they want every student in Utah to feel a personal connection to the Games, whether they ever compete or not. The hope is that the values learned through the program will stay with them well beyond 2034.
