MEP-UNESCO Project Launches New Phase to Strengthen Education for

The partnership between the Ministry of Public Education and UNESCO has kicked off a fresh phase aimed at strengthening classroom practices. The first field visit of 2026 took place recently, with teams heading directly into schools to promote action research projects among teachers and administrators.

During these visits, the focus was on helping educators identify real problems in their daily work and then design small, practical studies to address them. The idea is not to add extra paperwork but to turn teaching itself into a continuous learning process. School staff were encouraged to pick topics that matter locally, such as student engagement, assessment methods, or community involvement.

Action research is a method where teachers collect data, test changes, and reflect on results in a cycle. The project leaders believe this approach builds professional confidence and leads to more responsive classrooms. The new phase will support selected schools with mentoring and regular check-ins, rather than just handing out guidelines.

The visits also served to listen to concerns from principals and teachers about time constraints and resource gaps. Organizers acknowledged these challenges and promised flexible timelines. They stressed that the goal is practical improvement, not compliance.

This launch follows earlier pilot work in several regions. Now the effort expands to more institutions, with a clear emphasis on local ownership. Schools that show strong results will later serve as examples for neighboring areas.
