CU Denver Launches AI Hub for Practical Student Learning

CU Denver Launches AI Hub for Practical Student Learning

The University of Colorado Denver has opened a new Artificial Intelligence Hub aimed at giving students from a wide range of fields direct experience with AI tools and methods. The facility, located in the university's North Classroom building, opened on October 7.

The hub is meant to move beyond theory. Students will work with AI systems firsthand, testing how they perform, where they fail, and what their use means in real settings. Organizers say the goal is to make AI literacy a practical skill rather than an abstract concept, open to majors in business, health, the arts, engineering, and the humanities alike.

Rather than reserving AI education for computer science students, the university frames the space as a shared resource. That approach reflects how AI now touches nearly every industry, from medicine to marketing to public policy. Graduates who understand both the capabilities and the limits of these tools will be better prepared for the workforce, according to university officials.

The hub also gives faculty a place to experiment with AI in their own teaching and research. The opening signals a broader push at CU Denver to treat artificial intelligence as a core part of the student experience, not a niche specialty.
