Community Care breaks ground on $20 million health and education center in downtown Buckhannon

Community Care breaks ground on $20 million health and education center in downtown Buckhannon

Community Care of West Virginia has officially broken ground on a $20 million Integrated Health and Education Center in downtown Buckhannon. The four-story facility is designed to bring a wide range of medical and wellness services under one roof, including primary care, behavioral health, pediatrics, a pharmacy, and a fitness center. An education hub will also be part of the complex, offering space for community classes and training programs.

The project aims to address gaps in local healthcare access by centralizing services that are often scattered across different locations. Organizers say the center will make it easier for residents to receive coordinated care without traveling long distances. The inclusion of a fitness center reflects a broader focus on preventive health, while the education component is meant to support workforce development and health literacy in the region.

Construction is expected to take roughly 18 months, with the building set to open in late 2025. The investment represents one of the largest single infrastructure projects in Buckhannon in recent years. Community Care officials noted that the center will create dozens of new jobs during and after construction, and they hope it will serve as a model for integrated rural healthcare delivery.
