ASU student government advocates for higher education at Arizona State Capitol

Members of the Associated Students of Arizona State University (ASASU) recently took their advocacy directly to the halls of power, engaging with legislators, staff, and policy advisors at the Arizona State Capitol. The delegation focused on discussing critical issues shaping the future of higher education across the state.

The student leaders emphasized the direct impact state-level decisions have on campus life, academic quality, and affordability. Their conversations aimed to ensure that the student perspective is integral to ongoing policy discussions that will affect current and future Sun Devils.

Mikah Dyer, ASASU’s vice president of policy at the West Valley campus, underscored the mission. Dyer highlighted the essential need for student voices to be heard and considered when laws and budgets are crafted. The advocacy work seeks to bridge the gap between the daily experiences of students and the legislative process, championing accessible and impactful education for all Arizonans.

The visit represents a proactive effort by student government to foster dialogue and advocate for resources and policies that support academic success and opportunity. Such direct engagement is seen as a vital component in shaping a supportive environment for public higher education in Arizona.
